About Me

When I began my calligraphy studies in 1990, I never imagined calligraphy would eventually lead me to Italy, England, Canada, and around the United States.  Study opportunities have opened ancient books of calfskin vellum and words penned by 7th century scribes.  Today, the most beautifully made letters are still rendered with the same tools they were all those centuries ago.

I have the great pleasure of sharing my knowledge and experience with others, teaching beginner calligraphy courses to adults since 2002.  My students inspire, challenge, and push me continually to do the best that I can.  Sharing my passion is the greatest privilege.

In 2010, I started my independent calligraphy business, Pilgrim’s Quill Studio, working from my home in Blaine, Washington.  In a cozy space surrounded by pens, ink, and lovely papers, I create commissioned calligraphy for brides, wedding designers, letterpress printers, and clients looking for a unique expression of a special sentiment.  My calligraphy has been pictured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Seattle Bride, Seattle Metropolitan Bride and Groom, and wedding blogs such as Style Me Pretty and Junebug Weddings.

When my fingers aren’t in the ink, I enjoy reading, puttering around the house with my husband, and caring for foster kittens through the Whatcom Humane Society in Bellingham, WA.
